Ha Giang to host Mong ethnic Cultural Festival

Being considered the largest ethnic group of seventeen ethnics community in Dong Van karst plateau Geopark, Mong ethnic group contributes to making the speciality and special culture and custom in Ha Giang.

Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the provincial People’s Committee recently issued a plan to hold the second Mong Ethnic Cultural Festival in Ha Giang in mid – November. The festival aims at preserving and promoting the cultural identity within Vietnam’s unified and diverse. There are 14 provinces will take part in the festival.

 

Mong ethnic group is the largest ethnic group of seventeen ethnics community in Dong Van karst plateu Geopark. Mong people mainly concentrate in the mountainous provinces and they occupy 31 percent total population of province with two main sub-groups: White Mong and Flower Mong. The highlight of traditional culture of the Mong people is in accordance with customs, habits, ceremonies and rites, religion and beliefs. The festival focuses on promoting the cultural values of Mong ethnic group in particular and Ha Giang in general.
