New York Philharmonic to present in Hanoi

The New York Philharmonic (NYP), one of the oldest and most world-renowned symphony orchestras in the US, will perform for the first time in Vietnam in September as part of its tour of Asia, said the orchestras musical director.

The NYP’s Conductor, Alan Gilbert, told the press in Hanoi on June 4 that performing in Vietnam has been a dream for many of the orchestra’s members since their representatives made a fact-finding trip to the country last year.

During its stay in Vietnam, the 106-strong orchestra will perform at the Hanoi Opera House.

Established in 1842, the NYP has played 14,000 concerts in 59 countries and 422 cities across the world.
