Signatories to the memo were the Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hoang Tuan Anh, and the Danish Minister of Culture Carina Christensen.
The agreement will promote culture and art cooperation between Vietnam and Denmark, including the exchange of visits and holding cultural activities in both countries from 2009 until 2014.
Over the past few years, Vietnam has had the chance to better understand Denmark’s culture through the implementation of projects funded by the Scandinavian country. Currently, 7 similar projects sponsored by the Vietnam-Denmark Cultural Exchange, Cooperation and Development Fund are underway.
However, to help the Danes get a better understanding of the Vietnamese culture, Minister Anh proposed that Denmark increase cultural exchanges with Vietnam and continue to vote for Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay as one of the new 7 wonders of the world and the Thang Long Royal Citadel as a World Cultural Heritage site.
He invited the Danish officials and artists to attend a grand ceremony to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi in October 2010.
To mark the Queen’s visit, the Danish Embassy, the Vietnam Arts College, the Youth Theatre and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism are organising an arts road show, a Vietnam-Denmark rock festival and a First Aid services exhibition.(84-63) 3 826042 – (84-63) 3 511142
