Seminar to promote Vietnamese literature in the US

A seminar on the promotion of post-war Vietnamese literature in the US and other countries was held in the northern province of Hoa Binh on June 2 with the participation of Vietnamese and US writers.

The seminar, which was also attended by the representatives of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Propaganda and Education Commission, the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, underlined the role of Vietnamese writers and poets in promoting Vietnam’s image to foreign countries.

It also highlighted the important role of peace-loving US writers in introducing Vietnamese literary to US readers through the William Joiner Centre of Massachusetts University.

Participants focused their discussions on cultural and literary exchanges between the two countries over the past 35 years and Vietnamese authors and researchers’ activities at conferences and cultural exchange events in the US.

They also discussed the influence of Vietnamese culture and literature on American people.

On the sidelines of the seminar, organised by Hanoi University of Culture, the two countries’ writers and poets attended a poetry night in Kim Boi district, Hoa Binh province.

Earlier, they met with literature students at Hanoi Education University and attended a painting-music exhibition in Hanoi.
