Drawing exceeds floor price in Hong Kong

The autumn auction of Larasati from Singapore, part of the United Asian Auctioneers (UAA), was held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on November 27, with 183 pieces of work up for sale.

Three Vietnamese drawings by Bui Xuan Phai, Vu Cao Dam and Hong Viet Dung were sold, in particular Bui Xuan Phai’s picture was sold above the floor price.

The drawing titled “Hang Bac Street” (47x57cm) drawn by Bui Xuan Phai in 1968 had been offered for HKD80,000-120,000, but sold at HKD156,000, equivalent to US$19,900.

Meanwhile, a picture by Vu Cao Dam with an asking price of HKD200,000-300,000 was sold at HKD240,000. Another picture by Hong Viet Dung had been predicted to earn HKD120,000-170,000 but sold for HKD120,000.

The selling price included the buyer’s insurance costs.
