The first runner-up, Le Huynh Thuy Ngan, was presented with VND70 million, followed by Phan Thi Huong Giang with VND50 million.
The organising board also offered 7 other awards to ‘most beautiful face’, ‘most friendly’, ‘best traditional long dress (ao dai)’, ‘best hair’, ‘best evening dress’, ‘best body’ and ‘best in the Q&A component’. Awards were also given to national artisans whose pieces of jewelry received high awards at Vietnam’s jewelry competitions in 2009. The total value of the awards was VND895 million.
In the days before the competition, contestants took part in activities to raise funds for poor students, old people and orphans, and visited some beautiful scenery in Can Tho City.
The final round of the Miss Jewelry 2009 contest was broadcast live on VTV4 and VCTV1 channels, and on Can Tho Television. 26 beauties were chosen out of 1,000 hopefuls nationwide to participate in the final round.
The beauty contest was organised by the Gold Fashion magazine, under the Vietnam Gemstones, Jewelry and Art Craft Association in coordination with the Can Tho Municipal People’s Committee. It aimed to honour beautiful women and goldsmiths and contribute to advertising Can Tho City’s image to people nationwide and around the world.
