Nine candidates competed in the soft music style in Vinpearl Resort (central Khanh Hoa province) on July 9 as part of the Sao Mai Television Music Contest 2007.

The two youngest candidates are Hoang Thi Thuy Dung and Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Tien (who were born in 1987). The only candidate from minority groups is Y Garia Enuol, who comes from the Central Highland province of Dak Lak.
