Thai Parliament President and Speaker of the House of Representatives Chai Chidchob said Ha Long should be chosen as one of the world’s new seven natural wonders on his visit to the World Heritage site in Quang Ninh province on July 22.
The tour of Ha Long Bay followed Chidchob’s meeting with Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong on July 21.
At the reception for the Thai Parliamentary delegation, Le Thi Bich Huong, Vice Chairwoman of the Quang Ninh provincial People’s Committee, informed the guests about local socio-economic development, particularly potential for ship building and mineral exploitation.
On July 21, Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay, which was twice recognised by UNESCO for its beautiful landscapes and geological uniqueness, ranks 12
th among the 28 nominees in terms of votes, according to the NewOpenWorld website.
