An art performance and an ethnic costume show have been held as part of main activities to mark the Ooc Om Boc festival.

The four-day performance ended on November 1, attracting over 500 amateur artists and people of Hoa ethnic group in the province to compete in folk songs, traditional music, dancing and costume shows.

Another highlight of the festival was the traditional Ghe Ngo (long boat) race starting from October 26 to November 2, involving ten female and 30 male teams.

In this year’s Ooc Om Boc festival, which closed on November 2, there was a photo exhibition on Vietnam’s ethnic groups, and sports, food and fine arts performances.

Ooc Om Boc means “eating new young rice”. This is a Moon God worshipping ceremony of the Khmer ethnic people, which is organized on the 15th day of the 10th month of the lunar year, after the main harvest of the year.
