“Vietnamese Days in China” underway in Beijing

The “Vietnamese Days in China” event opened in Beijing, China, on August 30 to mark Vietnam’s National Day and the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and China.

On addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh emphasized that establishing diplomatic ties was an important event and a milestone in the history of Vietnamese-Chinese relations. Especially, the signed agreements on building a strategic and comprehensive relationship under the “16-word motto” (Friendly neighbourliness, comprehensive co-operation, durable stability and future-oriented vision) and the "four-good" spirit (Good neighbours, good friends, good comrades and good partners) gave fresh impetus to bring relations between the two countries to a new height.

Minister Anh stated that multi-faceted cooperation between Vietnam and China has made many important achievements. He said the strategic partnership between the two countries will be consolidated and developed further, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world.

The Vietnamese ambassador to China, Nguyen Van Tho, reviewed the major achievements made by Vietnamese people over the past 60 years, and stated that the traditional friendship nurtured by the late Presidents Ho Chi Minh and Mao Zedong have become a valuable asset for both two nations.

The assistant to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hu Zhengyue, expressed his delight at the major achievements made by Vietnamese people in the national construction and during the Doi Moi (Renewal) process. He said that under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Vietnamese people will build a prosperous, civilized, democratic and fair nation.

On the occasion, the Chinese also highlighted the significance of activities under the framework of “Vietnam-China Friendship Year “, and said that China is willing to promote the traditional friendship and expand cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.

Later, the same day, nearly 300 businesses took part in an economic forum to promote cooperation and investment between the two countries.
