Phan Thiet celebrates traditional Cham festival

On this September, tourists in Vietnam travel will have a chance to take part in a very interested festival of Cham people.

From Sep 24 to 26, the Cham Kate Festival will take place in Po Sah Inu tower and Cham villages in Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan Province.

The festival is celebrated annually on July 1 according to Cham calendar and is important to Cham people as the Lunar New Year (Tet) Holiday is to Kinh people. It is an occasion for Cham People to show their respect and tribute to the Deity and ancestor.

The festival features a procession of palanquins and costumes of Po Sah Inu Goddess, sacred ceremonies, folk music performances, contests of brocade weaving, cake making, and folk games.

Tourists in Vietnam travel taking part in the festival will also have a chance to witness rituals and play traditional music instrument like Ginang and Baranung drums, Saranai horn, under the local’s instruction. It’s the perfect time to plan a trip to Mui Ne.
