Reviewing the results of nine days of intensive work, Mr Trong said, “The Congress held discussions in a frank and democratic manner and approved important documents which is of strategic significance to national development. They are the political platform for the transitional period to socialism in Vietnam (supplemented and revised in 2011) and the socio-economic development strategy for the 2011-2020 period, political orientations and tasks for the 2011-2015 period, and amendments and supplements to the Party statute.

The Congress elected the Party Central Committee which consists of outstanding members representing 3.6 million qualified and virtuous Party members capable of assuming uphill tasks entrusted to by the Party and people.

All documents adopted at the Party Congress included a full summary of theories and practical reality after 20 years of implementing the political platform, ten years of implementing the socio-economic development strategy (2010-2020) and five years of implementing of orientations and socio-economic tasks (2006-2010). They are also a combination of brainpower, iron will power and aspirations by the whole Party and people, and an affirmation of the Party’s views, guidelines, targets and tasks in the new development period full of prospects and challenges from 2011 to 2020 and the next years.

The Congress demonstrated the Party’s great determination to implement its target of raising leadership capacity and combative strength as well as bringing national strength into full play and promoting the Doi Moi (Renewal) process.

The Party Central Committee (11^th tenure) vowed to do its best to serve the nation and people and constantly strive to increase professional capacity and moral quality in order to fulfill the major targets and tasks set for the next term.

The success of the Party Congress was a great source of encouragement for the whole Party and people to overcome every difficulty and challenge, to achieve the goal of turning Vietnam to become a modern and industrialized country by 2020, Mr Trong stressed.

The Congress regarded Party building as a key task and a decisive factor in increasing the quality of Party leadership in the following years. They said it would make sure the Party deserve to be the vanguard and a loyal representative of the working class and the whole nation.

On the behalf of the Congress, Mr Trong thanked people throughout the country and overseas Vietnamese as well as international friends for their fine sentiments and special attention to the major national event.

Party leader Trong asked Party organisations at the grassroots level to continue study and thoroughly grasp all resolutions and documents adopted at the Congress, carry out action plans to implement Party resolutions and promote national patriotic movements among people across the country.

At the closing ceremony, Ngo Van Du member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee's (CPVCC)Secretariat and Head of the CPVCC Office read the draft resolution and the resolution of the 11^th National Party Congress was approved.

After the closing ceremony, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a press briefing with a large number of Vietnamese and foreign reporters.

Mr Trong thanked them for reporting progress and results of the Party Congress to the people throughout the country and overseas Vietnamese abroad as well as international friends.

“The 11^th National Party Congress was a great success and fulfilled all programmes with good results. The success of the Congress displayed the democracy and frankness of the Party during its discussion over congress documents and the personnel plan. As many as 176 congratulatory messages sent to the Party Congress demonstrated international friends’ attention, support and encouragement for Vietnam’s Doi Moi (Renewal) process under the leadership of the CPV.” Mr Trong said.
