Leading Japanese pianist to perform in Hanoi

Japan’s leading pianist Michie Koyama will perform symphony No 5 by the German virtuoso composer Beethoven at the Hanoi Opera House on September 17-18.

She will play with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO), conducted by Tetsuji Honna, also from Japan.

The concert is part of a programme, featuring the previous Beethoven’s nine famous symphonies performed by the VNSO since 2009, performances involved such world-famous pianists as Tamura Hibiki and Mukaiyama Tomoko.

Michie Koyama started playing piano when she was five years old. She was the first Japanese pianist to receive third prize at the 7th Tchaikovsky international piano contest and later got fourth prize at the 11th international Chopin contest.
