Finnair customers can buy Jetstar Pacific flights

Passengers of Finnair are allowed to purchase flights of Vietnam’s low-cost Jetstar Pacific as well as Jetstar Airways, Jetstar Asia and Valuair as part of a single integrated transaction and travel itinerary in line with a recent deal between the European carrier and Jetstar Group.

Such a single integrated transaction and travel itinerary will be sold on a Finnair E-ticket in accordance with the interline agreement that Jetstar clinched with Finnair as a move to further expand its sales footprint into the European market.

The agreement also enables Finnair passengers to board domestic flights of the low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific, which is a partner of the Australian airline Jetstar. This pact follows similar Jetstar Group tie-ups with other airlines in the past year, including Air France/ KLM and marks Jetstar’s 21st such airline partnership.

Bruce Buchanan, chief executive officer of Jetstar Group, said in a statement obtained by the Daily that the arrangement was to expand Jetstar’s Singaporean flying hub that serves destinations with convenient connections to its large Australian and New Zealand networks and also throughout Asia.

Jetstar-brand carriers now have flights to and from HCMC and will connect these services to more destinations. Late last year, Jetstar launched a daily two-class A330 flight between Singapore and Melbourne and looks set to begin a daily Singapore-Auckland return A330 service later this year.

Finnair’s intercontinental destinations in Asia include Seoul, Delhi, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Osaka, and Bangkok. The major Nordic carrier continues to expand its flight connections between Europe and Asia by recommencing daily non-stop flying between Helsinki and Singapore in May 2011.

Finnair Vice President Alliances & Commercial Partnerships, Paavo Virkkunen, said in the statement that the interline agreement made travel to and from the destinations covered by the new partnership easy and convenient, and provided value for traveling customers.

For the Finnair passengers traveling under the agreement, the low-fare Jetstar will offer them baggage allowance and complimentary onboard among others.
