12 international and five Vietnamese puppetry groups attended the 2nd International Puppet Festival in Hanoi, which ended on September 9.

The host country won 2 gold medals for programmes that marked the 1000^th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi by the Thang Long Water Puppet Theatre and Andersen by the Vietnam Puppet Theatre.

The two remaining golds went to Singapore and Indonesia.

The organising committee also presented 12 first prizes and 7 second prizes to outstanding individuals and 3 prizes to the best directors plus six prizes to the best puppets, fine art decorations, costumes, young artists and another prize for preserving traditional cultural identities.
