Spain’s Asia House exhibits Vietnamese posters

An exposition of 45 propaganda paintings by Vietnamese artists is taking place in the Asia House in Barcelona to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Spain-Vietnam diplomatic ties.

Entitled “The renaissance of a nation”, the expo displays works by Vietnamese artists from the 1960s to the 1980s. These works were selected from more than 500 propaganda pictures on display at the Hanoi Museum of Fine Arts.

“Vietnam’s poster art has been associated with the country’s heroic struggle for national independence and reconstruction,” said the local El Pais newspaper.

The paper praised the very first propaganda picture by President Ho Chi Minh in 1941 as the first step towards the later successes of the Vietnamese revolution.

The Asia House was built in Spain in 2001 with the aim of promoting Spain’s cooperation with Asia-Pacific nations.
