The Thang Long Antique Association started casting an incense-burner in bronze on September 8 in Tu Liem district, Hanoi to mark the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

The incense-burner, which is 1.2m in height, 1.4m in circumference, weighs roughly two tonnes. The lotus-shaped burner has a design similar to the ancient ceramic burners used during the Ly and Tran dynasties.

The members of the Thang Long Antique Association will raise nearly VND1 billion to pay for the burner which will be completed before September 25.

The incense-burner will be placed in front of the statue of King Ly Thai To near Hoan Kiem (Sword) Lake.
