Ethnic Khmer people gathered in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on April 4 to celebrate their traditional New Year Festival (Chol Chnam Thmay).

Over the past years, the Party and State have issued and implemented preferential policies for Khmer people, particularly those living in the south-western region. As a result, as many as 72,000 poor households have been provided with houses and land for housing, more than 30,000 households have access to safe water supply, and more than 20,000 Khmer people have got steady jobs in Vietnam and abroad. The State has also granted scholarships and reduced and exempted tuition fees for Khmer students.
