Addressing at a meeting to review work in 2010 and devise tasks for 2011 for the Supreme People’s Court in Hanoi on January 5, Mr Triet praised the court sector’s achievements in 2010 and asked the sector to iron out snags and weaknesses. It should also improve the quality of judgment to minimse canceled or adjusted cases and eliminate the negative phenomena in judgment, Mr Triet said.
Mr Triet also asked the sector to accelerate human resource training and improve the qualifications and virtue of officials and judges as the results of judgment are part of the Party and State’s prestige. The sector should make a breakthrough in training by sending its officials to train domestically and abroad. Especially, it should actively take part in judicial reform, Mr Triet said.
Mr Triet urged the sector to complete judicial reform projects and draft laws as well as strengthen international cooperation and gain experience from other nations. He expressed his hope that the sector will fulfill all assigned tasks to meet the expectations of the Party, State and people.
Dr Dang Quang Phuong, Deputy Chief Judge of the Supreme People's Court, emphasised that the sector will strive to improve the quality of investigation, inspection and judgment.
From October 2009 to October 2010, the court sector dealt with more than 91 percent of cases in a just and lawful manner. This year, the sector devised 10 key tasks, including better implementation of the Party and National Assembly’s resolutions on judiciary and judicial reform; providing training for officials, especially for judges; and consolidating personnel organization structure at all levels and developing projects for judicial reform.
