The two-day 23rd Francophone Ministerial Meeting (FMM) concluded in the Lao capital of Vientiane on November 21.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary General of the International Francophone Organization (OIF) Abdou Diouf outlined political issues adopted by the OIF standing council.
A working session on the role of the French language, ministers called on relevant governments to continue financing current and future projects to universalize the French language.
Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong, head of the Vietnamese delegation, said that Vietnam fully agrees with measures to encourage the use of the French language throughout the world as well as in Southeast Asia.
He stressed that the French language has proved to be an effective tool for OIF member nations to increase mutual understanding and cope with conflicts and disparities to build a stable and peaceful world.
Vietnam will continue to promote the use of the language, he said.
