The first museum of photography is built to house current exhibitions and store the largest archival collection in Vietnam, announced Chi Chi Thanh, president of the Vietnam Artistic Photographers Association (VAPA) at the groundbreaking ceremony held recently in Hanoi.

Named the National Centre for Artistic Photographic Exhibition and Archives, the eight-floor museum is estimated to cost the Government around VND40 billion (US$2.5 million) and is expected to be completed by 2010.
