Green tourism in Phu Quoc

Nowadays, green tourism is very developing because of its advantages, not only protect the natural environment but also develop the tourism. So, the ‘Phu Quoc Green Tourism’ campaign was launched in the southern province of Kien Giang on August 6 with a wide range of activities seeking to develop sustainable and eco-friendly tourism in the island district.

According to Deputy Chairman of the Kien Giang provincial People's Committee Mai Van Huynh, the campaign aims to support a master plan by local authorities to turn Phu Quoc into “an international-level hub of ecotourism”.

The campaign, jointly held by Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper and the Kien Giang Province provincial People's Committee will run until the end of this year.

Phu Quoc Island, Viet Nam’s the largest island, is endowed with natural beauty. For this reason, Phu Quoc, nicknamed ‘Paradise Pearl Island’, has always attracted a large number of domestic and international visitors.

By 2020, the island is expected to gross US$771 million from providing hospitality to 2-3 million tourists annually, 40% of whom will be foreign visitors.
