Upcoming classical music shows to enjoy

At the Municipal Theatre of Ho Chi Minh City, at 8pm on March 29th, audience members will join an interesting ‘journey’, held by Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO), together with the British Council, to discover the U.K’s music, from classical to musical.

This is an opportunity for British music fans to meet their idols, such as the famous rock band Queen and Freddie Mercury, the lead vocalist, lyricist and also the soul of the band, as well as Andrew Lloyd Webber, the composer of “Phantom of the Opera” and “Cats”.

Moreover, on this British night, bandmaster Tran Nhat Minh and the HBSO’s artists will take part in several performances, including the modern ballet “Dream Puzzles” by the young – sibling choreographers, Phuc Hai and Phuc Hung.

That same day, the Teacher and Pupil (Thay va Tro) program will be performed by teachers and students at the HCMC Conservatory.

On March 30th at 7:30pm, the Opus 2 – Kayo’s Journey will be organized with the lead of bandmaster Do Kien Cuong, along with a performance by the famous German pianist, Deniz Inan, as well as the Saigon Symphony Orchestra. This event will also be held at the conservatory.

There are also many upcoming shows in Hanoi. One is the Japanese opera “Yuzuru” (Nhac Chieu), which will be performed at the Hanoi Opera House. Four Japanese artists, two of whom are famous sopranos; Leda Noriko in the role of Tsu, the crane who transforms into the wife, and the famous tenor Mochiki Hiroshi in role of Yohyo, the poor farmer who always dreams to be rich.

Together with the Japanese artists, the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra, the Children’s Cultural House of Hanoi and many other artists from the Vietnamese Youth Theatre will also take part in the show.

On the 29th and 30th To Loan, who won the champion prize in chamber music at the Sao Mai Diem Hen (the Morning Star Rendezvous) music contest in 2011, bass voice Vu Manh Dung, and pianist Tam Ngoc will perform at the Hanoi Goethe Institute.
