Hanoi’s “lemon tea” streets

Lemon tea shops on Hanoi’s streets like Nho Tho, Ly Quoc Su, Dao Duy Tu, etc. are over crowded on summer evenings. Pavements, roads and small parks become lemon tea shops, where thousands of the youngsters group up to chat.

From a small shop on Dao Duy Tu Street, lemon tea has become a popular drink of Hanoian
youth. With glasses of lemon tea, young people can chat the entire evening.

Lemon tea shops around the Great Church and Ly Quoc Su Street are the most crowded.

Materials for making lemon tea consist of tea powder, lemon, fragrance, sugar and ice.

Previously, green tea was used but now it is replaced by tea
powder and fragrance from China.

Pavements are occupied by lemon tea shops at night because
shops often close at 8-9pm.

Lemon tea shops are not only opened in the city’s center but also newly-built roads.
