Vietnam gains 7% in tourist arrivals

HANOI, 7 December 2012: Vietnam National Administration of Tourism estimates the country welcomed 655,701 international travellers in November representing a slight improvement of 7.16% from 611,864 visits during the same month last year.

Thailand supplied 25,399 visits increasing 25.75% from 20,198 visits during the same month in 2011,  placing it ninth in the top 10 source markets.

China led the field with 160,161 visits up 5.35% from 152,031 visits followed South Korea, Japan, the United States, Taiwan and Cambodia.

Neigbouring Cambodia was in sixth place supplying 32,940 visits, but down 18.81% from 40,571 during the same month last year.

All of the country’s top markets are in the Asia/Pacific region with exception of the United States and France (10th).

The bulk of arrivals in November (560,080) passed through the two main aviation gateways Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

For January to November this year, international travellers showed an improvement of 11.35% on  6,035,901 compared to 5,420,624 visits during the same period last year.
