Thua Thien–Hue welcomes over 175,000 tourists in first two months

The provincial tourism sector earned nearly VND490 billion (over US$21.5 million) in revenue, up 5.39% compared to the same period last year.

More than 470,000 tourists, including over 175,000 foreigners, visited relic sites in Hue Imperial City in the first two months of 2017.

In 2017, the province of Thua Thien–Hue set goals of attracting between 3.3-3.5 million tourists, of which foreign visitors were to account for 40%-45%, and raking in revenue of VND3.2-VND3.3 trillion (US$148 million).

According to Phan Thanh Hai, Director of the Hue Monuments Conservation Centre, the provincial Department of Tourism coordinated with relevant agencies to ensure the quality of tourism and transport services, helping tourists to enjoy their time during their stay in the province.

One of the locality’s must-see destinations is Hue, once the feudal and imperial capital of Vietnam under the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945). The UNESCO-recognised heritage is now a quiet city in central Vietnam with a wealth of imperial buildings, pagodas and tombs. The city has a rich culture, featuring numerous traditions, and the region’s architecture and cuisine summon memories of the Nguyen era.

In addition to the ancient imperial citadel, Thua Thien-Hue province attracts visitors due to its beautiful landscapes, such as Lang Co, one of the world’s most beautiful bays, and the Tam Giang-Cau Hai lagoon system, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia.
