It is expected that the first phase of the Laguna tourism area constructed in Lang Co bay (Thua Thien – Hue) will have been completed in the early June 2012 and put into trial operation for 3 months so that it will officially receive international tourists on September 1st.

This first phase started from the early August 2009, including 2 five star hotels: Banyan Tree Resort (120 rooms) and Angsana Resort (320 rooms), and the 18 hole golf courses under international standard. As reported by the investor, the project has reached 60% to 65% of the total workload, with the total investment cost of $260 million. At present, more than 2000 engineers and workers are working at the construction site to accelerate the construction schedule. The Chan May – Lang Co economic management board has created favorable conditions to deal with every procedure related to the project.

The Power Company of Thua Thien – Hue prepares to start construction of 5.6 kilometer electric line of 22kV with the total investment cost of over 6.4 billion dongs ($320 thousand). The essential infra-structure like water, transportation and telecommunication is also being developed and promptly be launched when the project is put into operation…The Banyan Tree group leaders – the investors for the project said along with speeding the progress to complete the first phase, they are also conducting recruitment of managers and business service staff for hotels and golf courses with the number of 600 – 800 employees. They will set the priority to those specialized in hotels and restaurants, especially the local ones in the project areas and meeting all the required conditions. The Laguna tourism area is invested totally $875 million by the Banyan Tree delegation (Singapore) and considered to be the largest project in Lang Co bay. After completion, Laguna Hue will possess 7 luxury hotels areas with 2000 five star rooms, 1000 apartments, conference centers, international shopping centers, golf courses and other items to develop tourism on a 280 ha area.
