The UK's leading travel publisher Rough Guides has revealed top 10 most beautiful places in Vietnam voted by its readers.

1. Hoi An Ancient town. 

Hoi An ancient town takes the lead thanks to its heady mix of wooden-fronted merchant houses, graceful bridges and ornate temples.

2. Sa Pa

According to Rough Guides, if the mist hasn’t rolled in, viewpoints take in green terraces and looming conical mountains, including Vietnam’s tallest peak - Mount Fan Si Pan.

3. Ha Long Bay

“When the sun rises over the still emerald waters and the bay’s scattered islands, islets and limestone pillars, the seascape is the most beautiful in the world – and even in the cooler off season the fog can add a touch of dreamy mysticism,” says the website. 

4. Mekong Delta

Rough Guides readers love the region for lush maze of languid waterways, mangrove forests and atmospheric floating markets.

5. Ho Chi Minh City

The buzzing, cosmopolitan city of skyscrapers and French colonial architecture is sleek and sexy - that makes Ho Chi Minh City a popular choice.

6. Ha Giang

The website noted that though the infrastructure is poor, more travellers are making the effort to visit this forgotten province of dramatic scenery and colourful minority villages.

7. Phu Quoc

The island is a classic deserted island getaway with its picture-perfect white-sand beaches and spectacular ocean sunsets.

8. Da Nang

“It’s particularly attractive after dark when the neon light spills across the Han River; on weekend nights the quirky Dragon Bridge is illuminated and, astonishingly, it breathes fire”, says Rough Guides.

The city is increasingly making it onto every traveller’s must-see list.

9. Da Lat
