Voted one of the top 100 luxury hotels in the world by the Robb Report, the Caravelle Hotel, set on Lam Son Square opposite the Saigon Opera House, is one of the top properties in Saigon. The original Caravelle was home to the offices of AP, CBS, NBC, The New York Times and the Washington Post and it was from the hotel's infamous rooftop bar that war correspondents boasted they could cover the action without leaving their bar stools. Refurbished in 1988, the glitzy 24-floor tower boasts five-star standard rooms and the views from both the river and city views are spectacular. Rooms are very spacious, though if you can afford an upgrade to a Premium Deluxe go for it. Other facilities include a large pool, gym and a range of restaurants. If the Caravelle is out of your budget, be sure to drop by the bar for a drink. Be sure to shop around for a competitive internet rate.
