Contemplate 6 dreamlike lakes in Vietnam

With dreamlike landscape, Thac Ba lake, Ba Be lake, Hoan Kiem lake, To Nung lake,… is known as the favourite destinations for visitors who wish to escape hectic lives and immerse in nature.

1. Thac Ba Lake, Yen Bai

Thac ba Lake is one of three artificial lakes in the country. It is 160 km from western and northwestern of Hanoi. The lake is the main sources of water supply for Thac Ba hydroelectric power plant (located in Luc Yen commune and Yen Binh commune, Yen Bai province).

 

Thac Ba lake includes over 1300 small and big islands. Coming to this place, besides exploring the lake on boat, don’t forget to visit villages along the banks of Thac Ba Lake which still remain traditional custom as well as preserve national identity by ethnic minorities of Tay, Nung, Mong, Dao, Phu La, Cao Lan, etc. 

2. Ba Be Lake, Bac Kan

Ba Be is one of the biggest lakes in the world, located in Ba Be National Park, in the north of Bac Kan province, 240km from northwest of Hanoi. Three ramifications of the lake are Pe Lam, Pe Lu and Pe Leng.

 Must-visited places are go sailing to enjoy the beauty of the lake, explore nearby caves and contemplate spectacular waterfalls upstream. 

3. Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi


Hoan Kiem Lake, or Sword Lake is considered as symbol of Hanoi. It was known with the legend of Emperor Le Thai To who threw the sword to give back to tortoise which was said to help him win invaders. 

There is the Turtle Tower in the middle of the lake. Surrounding are historical monuments like King Ly Thai To Statue, The Huc Bridge, Pen Tower, Ba Kieu Temple, ...

4. To Nung Lake, Gia Lai

 To Nung Lake or Sea Lake (Biển Hồ) is located in Gia Lai Province, 6km in northern downtown Pleiku. The lake is in fact a volcanic crater formed millions of years ago.

Visitors can use boat to explore To Nung Lake, in case you want to contemplate surrounding landscapes, sit in elephant’s back is an ideal choice.  In the evening, small party is usually taken place for locals to dance, sing, make friends,..you can join in to learn about lifestyle here. 

5. Lak Lake, Dak Lak

Visiting Lien Son town, Lak commune, you can find Lak Lake lying  near the roadway between Buon Ma Thuot city and Da Lat city. The lake is 56km from Buon Ma Thuot City and is recognized as the largest one in Dak Lak province and the second largest lake in Vietnam (after Ba Be Lake).

 

Spectacular view of huge mountains and Jun village, a famous village of M’nong ethnic minority are the attractions of the lake. Walking around Lak Lake, you also have opportunity to learn about historical architect of Bao Dao private residence and special house of M’nong people. 

6. Tri An Lake, Dong Nai

Tri An Lake is an artificial lake that belongs to Dong Nai river of Dong Nai province. The lake is the main sources of water supply for Tri An Hydroelectric power plant. 

Trees, pure water, small islets around make the poetic beauty for the lake in Dong Nai. Coming to Tri An lake, don’t forget to visit the well-known waterfall with a legend of faithful wife or Nam Cat Tien National Park upstream.
