The monument, in front of the Quoc Hoc Hue High School in Hue city, was inaugurated on September 18, 1920 under the colonial regime of the French.

A 700 million VND project to restore the century-old Bia Quoc Hoc (Quoc Hoc Monument) is under away in the central province of Thua Thien Hue, which is scheduled for completion by January, 2017.

The monument, in front of the Quoc Hoc Hue High School in Hue city, was inaugurated on September 18, 1920 under the colonial regime of the French.  

It is renowned architectural and cultural work in the city. The space in front of  the venue for the many cultural events including activities during the annual Hue festival and the biennial Hue traditional craft festival.

The monument has suffered from degradation and serious damage  over the year.
