“The Endless Field” competes at Pusan Film Fest

A film by director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh, the only Vietnamese entry, will compete for the New Currents' prize at the 15th Busan Film Festival, October 7-15.

“The Endless Field”, which is based on a story by female writer Nguyen Ngoc Tu, tells about the hard lives of farmers in the western Mekong delta.

It will be screened for the first time at the Busan Film Festival and later at the Vietnam International Film Festival.

The film is funded by the Asian Film Foundation and the producers now in Seoul for a few weeks completing the post-production stage, said Ngo Thi Bich Hanh, one of the film makers.

Sixty seven countries entered 308 films in this year's festival.

Started in 1995, the annual Pusan International Film Festival is one of the most significant film festivals in Asia. The event aims to introduce new films and first-time directors, as well as promote young talent, especially from Asian countries.
