Ambassador Duong Van Quang replied the Press

“The Future Roadmap” is based on three primary principles. First, continue to maintain the prestige and leadership of UNESCO. Second, save the costs on the base of downsizing the personnel by the implementation of stopping 75% recruitment of additional positions, merge some departments, assign some officers from the headquarter to the regions and countries to work. Third, change the working style. This Roadmap also sets priority in the action programs of UNESCO, including education for everyone, heritage conservation and the programs against climate change.

During the session, the member countries also discussed on many other important issues, including Syria issue. Vietnam delegation affirmed that: Vietnam agrees with many other member countries that every nation must comply with basic objectives and principles stated in the United Nation Charter, International Law and UNESCO Foundation Convention, especially including the principle of respecting independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of all countries and not interfering in each other’s business, dealing with conflicts peacefully.
