The final round of the Buoc nhay hoan vu (Global Dance) contest, which is modelled on the BBC’s Dancing with the Stars, took place at HCM City’s Phan Dinh Phung Gym on June 20.

Throughout the whole contest, model Thanh Van and singer Doan Trang looked the most prominent and performed many beautiful dances. Both of them had put in a lot of effort during rehearsals and received a large number of votes from the audience as well as high marks from the jury.

In the final round, Doan Trang secured the title Latin Dance Queen. In addition, she incorporated a Vietnamese cultural style into her routine in a delicate way and was dressed like a Thai ethnic girl during a traditional ‘love market’ session in Sapa, which went down very well with the spectators.

Regarding her costume, Trang said that she wanted to make others better understand and feel proud of the country’s cultural traditions.

Meanwhile, Thanh Van’s glamorous dance steps, especially in samba, proved a hit with the audience. She said she was totally engrossed in the performance.

The Vietnamese version of ‘Dancing with the Stars’ has helped to introduce international styles of dance to Vietnam and encourage the public to demonstrate their abilities and enjoy themselves.
