Students come to Japan for exchange programme

Twenty-seven Vietnamese students left Hanoi on March 10 to join the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) programme in Japan. These are the first of some 350 Vietnamese students to be invited to Japan from now until July.

During their stay in Japan from March 11-21, the students from Chu Van An High School and the Foreign Language Gift School under the Hanoi National University will stay at local people’s homes and attend several activities including Ikebana flower arrangement and a seminar at a high school in Okinawa prefecture.

They will also hold exchanges with youth delegations from Laos and Cambodia.

Nguyen Viet Phat, Secretary General of the Vietnam National Committee on Youths, said that the success of the programme will help gather young people in regional countries and deepen their mutual understanding.

The US$315 million JENESYS programme, launched by the Japanese Government, will invite around 6,000 young people from East Asia to Japan every year.
