The National Council for Cultural Heritage has appraised the profile of Ca Tru and will propose to UNESCO that the ancient genre of chamber music be listed as an intangible cultural heritage.

The Vietnam National Musical Institute recently prepared an in-depth profile of Ca Tru to meet the basic criteria set out by UNESCO.

The profile of Ca Tru reflects the special value of the Ca Tru tradition, emphasising the importance of training composers and the role of the community and intelligentsia in preserving and promoting Ca Tru, said the council.

The Council has asked the Prime Minister to allow the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in co-ordination with the UNESCO National Committee of Vietnam to submit the profile to UNESCO before March 15.
