The Thoi Dai (Age) Publishing House has launched a new index of Hanoi’s Streets to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Compiled by Giang Quan, a researcher, poet and journalist, who has lived and worked in Hanoi for over 60 years, the 547-page book provides latest information on Hanoi’s roads, streets, lanes and alleys after being updated late last year

It includes 467 streets, 129 roads, 175 alleys, 27 parks and squares and 17 lakes.

According to the author, the book is a necessity for both Hanoians and visitors who want to discover Hanoi and find out the new names of old streets.

Poet Giang Quan also intends to add the names of Hanoi’s new streets and roads after its expansion in August 2008.
