Ten governments, 25 non-governmental organisations and five international organisations have pledged nearly US$6 million in aid to preserve Hue’s relics. The key projects include Ngo Moon (Noon Gate) funded by the Japanese government, Van Mieu stele funded by public donations from France, and Lang Minh Mang (Minh Mang king’s tomb) funded by American Express.
Many large-scale projects have already been completed, such as the An Dinh palace restoration project at a cost of more than 444,810 Euros sourced from Germany’s Leibniz cultural exchange association, and the Hue royal court music preservation project with a financial package of US$344,900.
The Chairman of the Hue municipal People’s Committee, Nguyen Ngoc Thien, said that these projects have enhanced the tourism sector and helped Hue to attract many more tourists. The city welcomes nearly 2 million visitors annually and earns a revenue of approximately VND80 billion from its tourism industry.
