At a press conference on November 17, Nguyen Thanh Son, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese, said the event aims to honour Vietnam’s cultural quintessence and tighten ties between overseas Vietnamese and fellow countrymen.
The music festival is divided into two parts. The first part will feature pieces of chamber and symphonic music. It will attract the participation of well-known overseas Vietnamese artists around the world, including composer Nguyen Thien Dao (Vietnamese French), conductor Le Phi Phi (Vietnamese Macedonian) and pianist Ton Nu Thi Ninh (Vietnamese German).
The second part comprises of songs in praise of the fatherland sung by Vietnamese singers, including Quang Tho, Thanh Lam, My Linh and Trong Tan.
Four overseas Vietnamese singers, Le Thu, Huong Lan, Phi Nhung and Jimmy Nguyen, will also be on stage.
Mr. Son said all proceeds from the music festival will go to the Children Sponsorship Fund and the Fund for Community Support of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.
