The Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) Global Foundation will grant 100 scholarships to outstanding students at five universities in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City during the 2008-2009 school year.
The beneficiaries include the Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi National Universities, the Ho Chi Minh City College of Economics, Hanoi University and the Ho Chi Minh City College of Foreign Trade.
The Institute of International Education in Vietnam (IIE-Vietnam) said the annual scholarship programme is designed to assist financially Vietnamese students at prestigious universities nationwide and to promote closer relationships between the foundation and the communities in participating countries.
