Recent mixed feedback on this place has us scratching our heads. On our visit, we received a very friendly, casual reception. When we asked to see a room they tossed us the key and let us go up on our own, and when we forgot to shut the door after leaving, they made us go back and close it, though in a nice way. They struck us as just the kind of folks you're looking for in what is one of Hanoi's true budget operations. Who needs to be pampered when you're paying prices this cheap? And the room we saw was very nice for the price: small, but with a big window, TV, comfy bed and decent bath. The source of our perplexity is that one user says they stayed here for six months and never encountered any problem, while another says they were harassed and assaulted. Our bet is this place should be characterised by the former rather than the latter. Otherwise, a top pick on the no-frills, budget score, and with 45 rooms, they're likely to have a vacancy even when the rest of the Old Quarter is filling up.
