Dating back to 1925, the Majestic sits on what was once Rue Catinat (now Dong Khoi St) and Quai de Belgique Street (now Ton Duc Thang St) -- an area both historic and very well suited for holiday-makers and shoppers alike.
Despite a series of renovations, and unlike the Rex, the Majestic remains a cohesive creation with a good deal of the original French colonial charm remaining. An L-shaped pool sits at the centre of the hotel in an atrium and ample seating makes this a fine spot to while away a few hours with a good book (Graham Greene perhaps).
The rooms, all with high ceilings and parquet floors, are atmospheric and with the street-side rooms boasting triple glazing, the traffic outside isn't nearly as bad as you'd expect. A popular choice amongst Vietnam's more illustrious visitors, both Graham Greene and Catherine Deneuve feature in the ledger.
Rooms across the board are well-sized and have retained enough of their charm to make the Majestic close to a unique choice in Saigon. All come with complimentary in-room WiFi. Other facilities include in-room safe, minibar, satellite TV and IDD telephones. We found the staff to be outstanding. Shop online for a competitive rate.
