5km south of Dalat, Tuyen Lam Lake rates as the biggest lake in the area, covering 320 hectares. It was created by Tia stream - head water of Da Tam River.

No one knows when and why it was called Tuyen Lam, but maybe because of the grandiose nature around it - stream and forest were close to each other. Tuyen stands for stream, Lam stands for forest. Tuyen Lam is a place for water and tree meeting each other. Because of its various sources, Tuyen Lam is known as the lake where rivers, springs and forests meeting each other.It is one of the largest and most beautiful lakes in town.

From the wild valley, 1000m above sea level, Tuyen Lam lake is designed to be an ideal destination of highland. Dry season lasts 6 months withour raining, but, the lake is still full of water. The lake is green all over the year. Three - leaf pine forests cover all the mountains, hills around this area, make the place green everywhere. Anyone going to Dalat, all spend their time to go to visit Truc Lam zen monastery, then buy ticket to go sightseeing around the lake, see some beauty spots such as Da Tien tourist site, Nam Qua tourist site, Dalat tourist.....etc. 

If viewed from the cable hanger  or seen from above, Tuyen Lam Lake is as a miniature ocean with each oasis on the lake is a continent, when choosing type of yacht to explore the lake, you will have the opportunity to enjoy the different beauty of Da Lat, as well as getting more feeling about the cool air of the Highland at noon, feel the immensity between sky and water surface, relax completely. Slope, hills look like higher, space is vast and spreads over.
Some people spend all their day excursion on the lake, enjoying the fresh air, cool and precious silence. On shore, tourists can explore the culture of ethnic minority of Highland people  with barbecue, Lam rice, Can wine, join Cong Chieng festival, watch the wood sculpture works ; relax at house on stilts, ..... Together with disguising to be highlander man, tourists are so excited with sport activities such as: football, volleyball on the sand, horse riding or elephant riding. 

Tuyen Lam is not a simple fresh lake, in 1982 , to ensure water for hundred of hectares of rice belong Duc Trong district, the state has built dam in the Tuyen Lam lake. This dam becomes a part of Tuyen lam lake and make the lake more beautiful.

Tuyen Lam Lake was recognized as a Cultural historical heritage on August 30th, 1998. That is the pride of not only Lam Dong, but also in Vietnam. 

The lake and its campus have fresh air, tranquil atmosphere and diversified natural landscape. The lake will become a big tourist attraction with the unique types of tourism such as sight-seeing, camping, health caring, trekking, mountain climbing, fishing, visiting revolutionary base and other activities for sport and recreation, especially eco-tourism.
